3 DIYS

title.jpg

Hey guys. This post is 3 DIYS that are common, but get the job done. I don’t use exact measurements in the DIYS because they aren’t precise. Today I have recipes for a lip scrub, a face mask, and a hair mask. I hope you enjoy these DIYS and try them out for yourself.LS Title.jpg

  1. Lip Scrub

This DIY is so simple but makes you lips so soft and smooth. You can keep it anywhere and stays fresh for a while. All you need for this DIY is:

lip-scrub-ingredients1 Part Sugar

1 Part Honey/Oil

Optional: Coconut Oil. Adding a little bit of coconut oil helps moisturize your lips.

You can really customize this scrub. I used a light amount of lsfood dye to color it. Don’t add too much or it can dye your lips that color. I also added vanilla extract to add a nice taste to the scrub.

Mix the ingredients together and store it in a jar. Since all the ingredients are edible, after you scrub them on your lips, you can lick it off. If not your preference, wipe the scrub off
with a wet towel.

FM Title.jpg2. Face Mask

This DIY is also very simple but makes you face moisturized and soft. It includes many of the ingredients from the lip scrub. Sadly, I didn’t have the avocado with me for this recipe so I couldn’t make the DIY today.

1 Part Avocado

1 Part Honey

1/2 Part Yogurt

Optional: Coconut oil for extra hydration

Mix the ingredients in a bowl and apply to face. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes and wash off with a wet towel.

HM Title.jpg3. Hair Mask

This hair mask is very basic but helps keep your hair strong and hydrated. All you need for this DIY is:Hair Mask.jpg

1 Egg

1 Part Milk

1/2 Part Lemon Juice

1/4 Part Oil

Optional: Coconut Oil; Great conditioner to soften hair.

Mix the ingredients together in a bowl. Apply to hair and let it sit for 10- 15 minutes. Rinse off in shower.

That is the 3 DIYS I will be showing you guys today. If you enjoyed, leave a like and follow my blog to get more ideas like this.

Winter Essentials

Cover.jpgHey guys. This blog post is all about winter essentials that will help you survive the freeze season. It’s January and at this time of the year it can get pretty cold. Here are some winter items that will be your best friend throughout winter.

Chapstick.jpgChapstick

Chapstick is huge for winter. At this time, my lips get very and cracked so I make sure I have a chapstick with me handy just in case I need it. I have lots of chapsticks but I have three favorites. The first one is Blistex. It helps soothe dry lips and makes your lips feel soft and moisturized. The next one is perfectlyposh lip balm. This balm has a great mint scent but also makes your lips very soft. The last one is Celestial peppermint chapstick. I actually got this from a tea package but it is my go to when I have chapped lips. It medicates my lips and leave them healing. Lotion is also important for this dry season.

BootsCombat Boots.jpg

Boots are a fashion staple for winter. You can style them Uggs.jpgwith almost anything; dresses, jeans, leggings, etc. Not only that, but they keep you warm. My favorite boots are Uggs or combat boots. Uggs are a great boot for when you have to walk through a day that’s cold but isn’t snowing heaps. They have fur inside that keeps  your feet really warm and are nice to style outfits with. I got mine from a shop in Australia. I also love combat boots because they have lots of styles; short, long, patterned, etc. I prefer short ones with jeans or leggings and they are waterproof so are perfect for snowy days. Just keep them away from the ice. 😉

Flannels

Flannel 1.jpg
Flannels/ Plaids are also a staple for winter. There is many styling alternatives to flannels. You can keep it buttoned up for a comfy day or leave it open with a t-shirt Flannel 2.jpgor a tank. Even in summer, you can throw a crop top on with a flannel for the rainy days. One of my favorite times I like to wear flannels are when there is lots of snow on the ground and you want to stay inside all day. Sadly, there is times I have to leave the house for things on days like these. I just throw on a flannel and get through the day. The flannel on the right is from Aeropostale and is a great flannel for throwing on over a shirt. The flannel on the left is from abercrombie kids. It’s super comfy and a great button down.
Beanies.jpg

Beanies/ Hats

Beanies are a great winter essential because they look great on with a coat and they keep you ears warm in the harsh winter. There are many designs and can go with almost any outfits. The beanie in the back is from kohls and is more of a bigger beanie but is really warm. The one up front is from Aeropostale and is a nice design with lots of warmth for my ears.

This was my first half of Winter Essentials. I will be doing four more essentials at another time in this month. I hope you enjoyed this blog post and if you did, leave a like and comment down below some of your essentials for winter.

Thank you,

Book Recommendations

books.jpg

Hey guys. I wanted to post a book recommendations because I am I huge book worm and I wanted to share some books I have been loving lately. Now that schools’ back in session, you’re going to have to dig out those books again. These books are pretty gender neutral and although I wanted to share tons, I narrowed it down to 5. I hope you enjoy these books and read them sometime.  Staying Strong.jpg

  1. Staying Strong by Demi Lovato

This book is amazing. This is a book where you read something everyday for 365 days. She gives you advice on how to get through life and talks about her life experiences. At the top of each page there is a quote. If you are interested, I got this book from Barnes and Noble.

2. Tales of the Peculiar by TOP.jpgRansom Riggs

This is a great book. This author also wrote the “Mrs Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” series which is also a great series. This book contains short stories about people that are peculiar; meaning they have a special power. I love how it is random stories and not a big plot; I love taking a break from those once in a while. This book is not in a series and you don’t have to read the  series to understand this. I also got this from Barnes and Noble.

3. Paper Towns by John Greenpaper towns.jpg

I am a huge fan of John Green’s work and this is one of my favorite books written by him. This was a movie but I would recommend reading this book before seeing the movie. It is a simple book filled with lots of comedy. Paper Towns is about a girl named Margot who ran away and left clues behind for her neighbor, Quentin. There is lots of twists and this book and will keep you reading. You can get this one at Walmart.

cinder.jpg4. Cinder by Marissa Meyer

This is a modern classic. Cinder is the first book of 5 books series. It is based in the future where there is androids and cyborgs. Cinder is a mechanic. Also, a cyborg. She works for her stepsisters and stepmother fixing their tablets and heading out to the junkyard. Ring a bell? Yes, this is a futuristic retelling of Cinderella with one major twist. The plague. This book is found at Barnes and Noble.

5. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey5th wave.jpg

Although this is my last book, it’s not the least favorite. This book is full of action and adventure and you can’t stop reading it. It is part of a 3 book series and was turned into a movie. The 5th wave is about a girl named Cassie who has to survive a alien attack on the whole world. There are waves that happen to slowly eliminate the population. Wave 1: Power outage. Wave 2: Floods… all the way to the fifth. This is a gripping book and is found at Barnes and Noble.

I hope you enjoyed this post and read these books. If you did, leave a like and comment a book that you would recommend. Happy reading!

DIY Photo/List Display

1

Today I wanted to show you a really simple DIY that I have been making for room decor and organization. A DIY photo display. You only need four different materials for this DIY.

Materials: fix

  • Photos/ Lists
  • Clothespins
  • String to string clothespins on (I used jute)
  • Tape or Tacks

Steps:

  1. Clip the clothespins on the string. You can add  as many clothespins as you like, just make it proportional.
  2. Add the photos or lists of your choice to the clothespins.
  3. Tape or tack up the string to your wall.

That’s it! This DIY is so simple but so neat. I’ve seen stores retail photo displays for around $15-20.  This is a much cheaper alternative and you can customize it however you want.img_4869

If you want to make your display a bit neater, you can add a wood block behind the strings.

I hope you enjoy this DIY and if it helped you out, be sure to leave a like and comment suggestions on what you want to see next.

Catie

My New Year Resolutions

IMG_0772.JPG

This blog post is more of a personal write about my New Year Resolutions. Every year I come up with some goals for the year, like most people do. Although I can never complete all of them, I try my best to accomplish as many as I can during the year. Here are some of my personal goals, though you or others may have too.

Self Love    Last year was rough for me because I didn’t know where I belonged. I was drifting away from some old friends and creating new ones. I tried many sports and was really insecure about my body shape. This year I want to create a mantra that I can repeat to myself in the mirror to learn to love myself just as I am. Now, of course I am going to do lots of things to improve my body like exercising and eating healthy, but I am also going to let myself know I am doing what I can and I should love myself just as I am.

Communication    I am and am not a nervous talker. Depends on who I’m talking to. I want to be able to talk to anybody; whether it be a store worker or a distant relative on the phone. I want to be able to present something to a class confidently. This year will be the year of confidence for me.

20160727_083521.jpg

Expanding My Horizons I also want to get more out there. I want to try new things and find multiple passions I can use my whole life. I want to try new things to keep me positive and happy. For example, meditating. Sure, it may sound weird, but it really helps to keep you calm and in high spirits for the day.

Organization I am a very organized person but sometimes it catches up to me. I want to learn to be flexible if something doesn’t go right and try my best to stay organized. I also want to stay organized with school and grades. I’ve always reached for good grades but I always add it to my resolutions.

These are some of my goals I want to have for the year. I hope you enjoy it and be sure to leave a like. Comment down below what some of your resolutions are.

Thank you,

Catie
